Customer feedback is important – not only listening to it but acting on it too. That’s why, for only the third time in fifteen years as one of the South West’s most successful postal flower delivery businesses, Scilly-based Scent from the Islands, has launched a new website www.scillyflowers.co.uk
Whilst being keen believers in the principle ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’, Zoe and Ben Julian realised from customer comments that their old site no longer had all the features needed to continue delivering a top quality, award-winning service. Webselect, the Devon company that built their previous two websites, were therefore asked to develop a new one.
That work is now complete and the site, with its fresh design and smooth, easy-to-use ordering process, has gone live.
“Simplicity and speed are key,” said Zoe Julian. “Our customers want to know that they can order a beautiful box of scented narcissi or pinks from us with a few clicks of the button and the minimum of fuss. If they have bought from us before, all their previous details will have been stored – including the names and addresses of the people they’ve sent to – making it very easy to arrange delivery and pay. If flowers are sent out for anniversaries or birthdays we can send reminders too.
“Our aim in everything we do is to earn the trust and respect of our customers by making promises we keep. Our business is based on St Martin’s, it is family-run and our reputation for using only the best quality blooms and delivering them on time is hugely important to us. Our new website reflects those values and also provides what we hope is interesting information about how the flowers are grown, how they should be looked after and what life on a tiny island is like.
“Given that technology is always improving, we also wanted a site that was compatible with hand-held devices such as Smart phones and I-Pads. We don’t make changes just for the sake of it but, when we do, we do it properly. A good deal of research has gone into this website to make sure it does everything our customers wanted it to do and more. We’re very proud of the result.”
Providing an added incentive to visit the new site, Scent from the Islands is also running a competition to win a year’s worth of Scilly flowers – worth over £400. To enter, competitors must email the answer to the question posed by 1 September.
