20 years in our new building - August 2020

When Andrew & Hilary moved to Churchtown Farm in 1986 they worked out of the old glasshouse and packing shed. As time went on and as the business grew, the buildings they had just weren't big enough anymore. 20 years ago a new building was brought in by sea and the whole operation moved across the yard to where we still work from today.

Building on the islands has its own unique challenges, the first one being how to get all the materials here! The new shed was brought all the way from the mainland by barge which then had to be unloaded onto tractors and brought up the hill to our site.

Work started with the demolition of the old Nissen huts and the site was completely cleared to make way for our new shed which would contain our office, packing shed and warehouse all under one roof.

With the site cleared, it was time to start the construction of the new building.  The mainland suppliers of the shed came across to the islands to lead the building work with help from locals.

The new building was coming along nicely and there was much excitement about moving into our new premises.

We moved into our new buildings in August 2020 and have been here ever since. We added an extension to the warehouse in 2006 but other than that and a lick of paint, the whole building has remained the same for the past 20 years!
