UNBOX SCILLY FLOWERS
1
The box, strong enough to protect but light enough to minimise packaging waste. The carboard used is made from 30% recycled board and because we don't use glossy coatings the whole box can go straight into household paper and card recycling. Or repurpose the box, they're useful for storing sorts of things.

Inside all but our largest box is a beautiful illustration of island life by artist Rachael Horner. Look closely and you'll spot flowers being loaded onto the post boat, a gig boat going for a row, our farm shed next to the church and the iconic stripy Day Mark at the far end of St Martin's.

Tucked under the flowers is a little information booklet giving handy tips on how to best care for the flowers to achieve maximum vase life. There is also a bit of information about our farm and how we grow your flowers. Importantly, we never include any information about the price of the flowers, that would be inappropriate when the flowers have been sent as a gift. You can click below to read the booklet.

We include a sachet of flower food. This helps the flowers take up water after their journey and importantly, helps slow bacterial build-up in the vase, which in turn helps the flowers last longer. The wrapper is plastic, we're still searching for an alternative where the environmental claims actually stand up to scrutiny, but we'll keep looking. For more tips on vase life click below.

The flowers are presented in the box wrapped in green tissue paper and wrapping paper that can both be recycled. The paper wrapping can be easily adjusted for different varieties of flowers and helps hold the flowers snug in the box, it also looks smart when the box is opened. For more information about the different varieties of flowers we send click below.

Tucked in the wrapping is your all important message. We use a very simple, classic design of card all year round, avoiding any seasonal themes or designs. We do this so as not to detract from the importance of your words and because flowers are sent for all sorts of occasions, both happy and sad.

And last but not least the flowers, packed so they'll open a little in the box. This means that when the box is opened there is a glorious waft of scent and the flowers are showing some colour. Scented narcissi, which we send from October to Easter, are shown in the picture. During the summer we grow scented pinks and when we're between these main flower seasons we send a selection of other seasonal flowers. To see what we are sending today click below.
